In April this year, the UK Home Office officially opened eVisa applications, sending email notifications to some applicants.
1. What is eVisa?
The eVisa is a digital service introduced by the UK Home Office, which will replace the BRP (Biometric Residence Permit) and BRC cards. Compared to traditional BRP cards, eVisas are more convenient and secure, eliminating the risk of loss or theft and saving time on delivery.
2. How to Apply for eVisa
Before you start, ensure you have the following ready:
A smartphone (iPhone 7 or later, or an Android phone with contactless payment functionality)
A mobile phone number (mainland numbers are also accepted)
An email address
Your BRP card or a valid passport with a BRP number or visa application number
Step-by-step guide:
1.Create a UKVI account by visiting the official website gov.uk/get-access-evisa, click "Start now," and follow the instructions to register your account and verify your email and phone number.
2.Download the UK Immigration ID Check App from your app store.
3.After logging into your UKVI account, click "Start Application" to link your eVisa and follow the instructions to connect to the UK Immigration ID Check App.
5.Review and confirm your account details, then submit the application.
6.After submission, check your email for confirmation. Once successful, you can log into your UKVI account to view your eVisa.
Tips
When showing your eVisa, you'll need to present a share code, which is valid for 90 days. Plan ahead to avoid having to create a new code frequently.
There will be a photo-taking step during the process, which will be used for border crossings or official purposes, so make sure to look presentable!
Good luck with your eVisa application!
