In April this year, the UK Home Office officially opened eVisa applications, sending email notifications to some applicants.

However, from August 6, 2024, all BRP holders can apply for eVisa without needing an invitation. By January 1, 2025, the UK will fully transition to eVisa, and all physical BRP cards will expire on December 31, 2024. Therefore, you need to complete your eVisa registration before the end of 2024.

1. What is eVisa?

The eVisa is a digital service introduced by the UK Home Office, which will replace the BRP (Biometric Residence Permit) and BRC cards. Compared to traditional BRP cards, eVisas are more convenient and secure, eliminating the risk of loss or theft and saving time on delivery.

Tips

  1. When showing your eVisa, you'll need to present a share code, which is valid for 90 days. Plan ahead to avoid having to create a new code frequently.

  2. There will be a photo-taking step during the process, which will be used for border crossings or official purposes, so make sure to look presentable!

Good luck with your eVisa application!
